Many people don't realize that when it comes to watching videos and listening to audio files on a PC there are more choices out there than just plain old Windows Media Player. Personally, I love WMP. I love being able to minimize a video using the WMP toolbar, allowing me to watch a small sized, non-obtrusive, always on top, version of whatever I want.
There's only one problem. Some files won't play in WMP. This can pose issues for people who frequently watch videos and listen to music of various formats (obtained legally, of course). WMP supports many audio and video formats--many, but not all. So how do you watch or listen to something that WMP doesn't support?
3 letters... VLC
VLC Player (don't worry, it's free) is probably the only player out there that supports every format imaginable. If something won't play in your default media player, it's almost guaranteed to play in VLC. If some dude in Sweden sends you some random video format that no one in the world has ever seen before, chances are, VLC will play it for you. With the new release of version 1.0, there's never been a better time to jump on the bandwagon. VLC is the king of media players. Oh, and it works on Windows, Mac, and Linux. No one has an excuse not to try it out. It can't hurt none...
